January
Happy New Year 2003!
Happy birthday to Granny and Uncle Bud…and to you too Elvis, wherever you are!
February
Happy Birthday Owen!
Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this year so it looks like Winter will be around for a while.
Owen celebrates his Third Birthday this month. He’s looking forward to it but is not too keen on giving up on his “Terrible Twos” just yet!
March
Birthday Boys!
Ross and Pop-Pop cerebrate their birthdays on the same day…March 12th. Ross will be six years old; Pop-Pop will be somewhat older than that!
March came in like a Lion this year…we hope it goes out like a Lamb…we like to play in the snow, but even us kids are getting tired of it!
April
The first of April is the day we remember what we are the other 364 days of the year. Let us be thankful for the fools. But for them the rest of us could not succeed. — Mark Twain
We went to the Shenandoah Discovery Museum in Winchester, VA this month. It has lots of stuff for kids and we had a really good time.
Maybe next month we will get to go to Charleroi, PA for the Belgian Dayz festival!
May
Happy Mother’s Day to Mom and the Grannies
During the first weekend of this month, we went to Charleroi, PA to visit GG. While we were there we went to the Belgian Dayz festival. And we also went exploring in the woods with Aunt Rosemary, Uncle Brian and Cousin Gina.
June
Happy Father’s Day to Dad and the Grandpaps
Summer is here but the weather here lately is not all that great! It has been raining a lot and the temperatures have been lower than average so far. We haven’t even been to the pool yet and almost all of Ross’s baseball games have been rained out so far.
Ross won the first place award for his school project about the astronauts. His project also won second place in the district competition!
July
Happy Birthday to Dad, Buster and the USA!
Ross can now ride his bicycle without the training wheels. Owen still prefers tricycles!
August
Reunion Time!
The family reunion is always on the first Saturday in August, which was the second day in August this year. As usual, there was lots of food. And best of all, there was lots of stuff for kids to do.
Ross lost his first baby tooth at the reunion and the Tooth Fairy left him four shiny quarters that night.
We also went to a picnic at Aunt Janet and Uncle Tom’s house with our cousins Henri and Cody. We went swimming in their pool and saw lots of fish in their ponds.
We had lots of fun visiting GG, Uncle Brian, Aunt Rosemary, Gina, Brian Michael, and Aunt Rosemary’s bother Hammy, who was home on leave from the US Air Force.
September
9/11 – Never Forget!
We both started school this month. I’m in first grade this year and its Owen’s first year of preschool. He goes to preschool two days a week for three hours each day.
We went on vacation at Sandbridge, Virginia. While we were there, we also went to see Jamestown, VA…we learned about John Smith, Pochahontas and all that other historical stuff.
October
Happy Birthday Mom!
Fillet of a fenny snake, in the cauldron boil and bake: eye of newt and toe of frog, wool of bat and tongue of dog, adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting, lizard’s leg and howler’s wing, for a charm of pow’rful trouble, like a hell-broth boil and bubble. — Second Witch, “Macbeth,” IV:1
Hey! Get the candy ready! We’re going Trick or Treating.
Lots of stuff happening this month…Mom’s Birthday, Fairfax County Fair, Waterford Fair, a visit to the Pumpkin Patch, and Halloween!
November
Happy Thanksgiving
Its “Turkey Time” again. We’ll be in Charlottesville, Virginia wth our Uncle Dr. Corky and his family for Thanksgiving Day this year. Charlottesville is the home of the University of Virginia…maybe we’ll go to school there someday…or maybe some place else!
December
Merry Christmas
Time for Santa to bring us a new supply of toys! And also time to wish for Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All.
See you next month...
Ross & Owen
