About

More than you probably want to to know about hrpr.com and other generally obscure factoids.

We’ve been out here on the Internet in one form or another since 1997. Hrpr.com started out as a one-page site and has evolved over time to what you see here today. As a result, we have a lot of stuff scattered around here at hrpr.com, some of which is in no particular order or subject matter grouping. As R. W. Emerson once said: “Foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds!“

It is the combination of the first and last initials of the webmaster and his spouse. Not very original, but it does make everyone ask.

Why the HR? I’ll leave as an exercise for the reader.

The Industrial Strength part of the name has been around since the first site hosted on the hrpr.com domain. It was supposed to convey the robust (i.e., unbreakable) design of the site, which back in the early days of the web wasn’t that easy to do.

Why Stuff? Prior to consolidating the majority of the content floating around the hrpr.com domain into this site, there were sites called portals, gateways and whatever cluttering up hrpr.com and a number of its subdomains such as gallery.hrpr.com. Text and media files were scattered hither and yon. The vast majority of this content is now within the purview of this site. And, for want of a better name, it is now called Stuff.

Guess it reflects my “simple is better” approach to things! If you look under the covers, you’ll find a number of HTML5 and CSS3 features. And, it loads relatively fast and is responsive so it looks semi-decent on smartphones and tablets.

Can’t really say for sure..but if you are using an older browser that does not support current HTML and CSS standards (e.g., Internet Explorer 6 or below), that may be the reason. All of my testing is done using the current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Android browsers. The current testing is done on Windows 10/11, Linux, and Android devices with screen resolutions ranging from 320×480 through 1920×1080. If you are using another operating system (IOS, Mac OS/X, etc.) or browser (Safari , Opera, etc.), that may be it. Or maybe you’ve found a bug in the theme’s HTML, PHP, JavaScript, and/or CSS stuff!

Seemed like a good idea at the time. We’re not big, we’re not small, we’re just halfVAST!

Both hrpr.com and halfVAST.com have responsive designs based on HTML5 and CSS3. They show best in window sizes ranging from 320x240px to 1920x1080px. Note that we do have a few external links to older, or legacy, sites that may not look very pretty when compared to sites using current technology.

On one of many virtual private servers spewing out stuff like this 24 x 7 in one of many data centers somewhere on earth.

Certainly not for profit…It is a hobby. When I’m not doing something more interesting, I fool around with stuff like this.
