May 8th marked the 70 year anniversary of VE Day. To commemorate this event, a number of vintage WWII aircraft conducted a Flyover of the nation’s capitol. Our neighborhood was in the flight path. We didn’t get to see the planes because we were in school, but Mom and our neighbor got some good photos of the planes as they flew south towards DC.

The first of April is the day we remember what we are the other 364 days of the year. Let us be thankful for the fools. But for them the rest of us could not succeed. — Mark Twain
The family spent a long weekend in the Big Apple this month. While there, we met up with Mom’s cousin Brian, who lives in New York City, and had lunch with him at the legendary Katz’s Deli.
One year ago, Ross began his career in the food service industry making sandwiches at Jimmy John’s. This month, he left Jimmy John’s to become a “burger and fries” guy at Five Guys.
Like this time last year, Owen is still chasing his dream of becoming a World-Class Gamer. He does, however, take time out from gaming to swim and go to church youth group meetings. He’s also busy planning upgrades to his computer to make his games run faster.
The big event this month is Owen’s Birthday. He will be 15 years old on February 25th. The second biggest event this month is Piggy’s 13th birthday. Owen is hoping for big bucks from Pop-Pop and Granny as his birthday present. Piggy is again hoping for someone to spill an entire box of Cheerios on the floor.
Owen lettered on the Swim Team. Ross didn’t do the Swim Team this year. He had more important things to do like honing his bread slicing skills at Jimmy John’s, hanging out with his girl friend, hosting “Party Central,” and waiting to hear from a few more schools before making his final decision on where he’s planning on becoming a BMOC this fall.
In other news, Phil saw his shadow and declared that there will not be an early spring. His prediction is looking good so far. This February has been colder than normal. Due to the snow and cold weather, we’ve had a bunch of school closures and one or two hour late staring times this month. Pop-Pop says back in his day school was open no matter how deep the snow or how low the temperature.
