Pop-Pop and Ross share the same birthday – 72 hours prior to the Ides of March. Ross is still a twenty-something. Pop-Pop is still a four-score-something.

During her genealogical travels, Mom found the long lost picture of the Monongahela, PA Company D, 79th PA Volunteer Infantry GAR Post members. Our 3X Great Grandfather George W. Gibson is second from left in the seated row.

Mom was one of the Kectocton Chapter reps at the DAR VA District 8 meeting.

Dad’s antique Christmas Tree Lights waiting for their time to shine at least one more time!! This is just one small sample of his collection of lights!

This Month’s News…

2026 is not an intercalary year!

Last year’s winter weather was a typical of that here in the DMV. This year’s winter has not had that problem …we’ve had way more than our fill of days below 32° F with wind chill factors that make outdoor activities somewhat unpleasant! We’ve also had an accumulation of about 20 inches of snow to date!

The Christmas Trees are now on a well-deserved sabbatical. They passed the torch to Saint Valentine…who will in turn pass it on to the Leprechauns.

Pop-Pop says he remembers where he was when Maz hit this one…sitting in traffic in downtown Charleroi, PA in a 1960 model of Chevrolet’s attempt to compete with Volkswagen’s Beetle.

World traveler Owen has returned from his New Zealand Tour. He got a lot of practice counting sheep and driving on the left side of the road.

Ross and Owen’s Monthly News begins its 28th year this month. We’ve come a long way since our first edition. Our early stuff looks quite primitive when compared to what we produce today. But, so was the Internet, the World Wide Web, user friendly Content Management Systems, and that new thing called AI…or at least that’s what Pop-Pop, who says he has “Been There, Done That“ tells us!

The 11th of January is Cosmo’s “Gotcha Date.” That’s the day back in 2020 that Mom and Dad brought two-month old Cosmo home from the Piney Mountain Kennel in Appomattox, VA.

We’ve had a more than our share of “Three Dog Nights” this month. On those nights Cosmo and Toby take possession of the nearest space heater. Winnie just continues doing her own “Junkyard Dog” thing!
