Happy Birthday Evan and Ronnie Lee
We Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
This Month’s News…
Mom and Dad took a few day trips this month:
- To Alexandria, VA to watch the Annual Scottish Christmas Walk Parade.
- Up US Route 15 to the Chambersburg, PA area to seek out Pyrex collectibles and antique Christmas lighting/ornaments. This resulted in some additions to Dad’s vintage Christmas light collection. During this trip they also toured the Seton Shrine in Emmitsburg, MD.
- To the National Shrine Of The Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC
- With Ross, Hannah and Owen to the Van Gogh Exhibit in Washington, DC.
- To the Franciscan Monastery in Washington, DC
To date at least seven Christmas Trees of various sizes have been sighted in the house. Five are imposters, two are the real deal.
The lights and tinsel on the trees are from Dad’s collection, as are the majority of the ornaments…their vintage ranges from the 1920’s to the 1950’s.
These lights are the “Jewel in the Crown” of Dad’s collection. They are circa 1902 and believe it or not, they are in working order. Also, that is the original box they came in.
Santa made it down the chimney again this year and left us more than enough presents. Our Christmas dinner featured a genuine Virginia Country Ham.
On Boxing Day, we had a get-together with Dad’s brother Corkie and his family. One of planned events was to attend Harry Potter™: A Forbidden Forest Experience. The show’s venue is Morven Park, which is just down the road a bit from our place. Unfortunately, the nasty weather resulted in cancellation of this outdoor event. But other than that, a good time was had by all.
