July 2021

Happy Birthday to Dan, Allyson, Terry, and the USA!!

This Month’s News…

Two very important birthdays this month: The Good Old USA and Dad!  The USA was 245 years old.  Dad was a year older than he was at this time last year.

Our bird feeders are getting lots of action this year.  We’ve been refilling them every couple of days.  Mom is keeping a list of the different species she has seen.

In addition to our bumper crop of blackberries, the “Fagerli Farm” is producing zucchinis and cucumbers.  Our supply of zucchini bread is growing and the cucumbers are going straight from the vine to the pickle jar, where they become fresh dill pickles.

Other news this month:

  • We have a brand new front door.  It replaced our old front door, which was literally “coming unglued.”
  • Pop-Pop installed his very own wireless mesh network to provide better coverage for his “Basement Computing Center.”

That’s all the news that’s fit print this month.  Enjoy the pictures.

June 2021

Happy Birthday Ralph, Henri, Mark, Susan, Jonalyn, and Svetlana

This Month’s News…

Mom and Dad went to their first ever rugby game.  The weather was unusually cold for June and they had to bundle up a bit.

Ross started started a new job in Morgantown, WV.  He rented an apartment in Morgantown and we all helped him move in.  On Thursday, 10 June we filled Mom’s SUV and a U-Haul Truck with his possessions and off we went.  Once the move was completed, Pop-Pop got together with his friend Pat for some quality time at Gene’s Beer Garden.  Mom, Dad, Owen, Ross, and Hannah went to Mario’s Fishbowl.

On Friday, after a trip to the local Walmart to get various household stuff for Ross, we we were on the road again.  We headed up Route 43 to Pop-Pop’s brother’s house in Carroll Township, PA to attend the Reinhardt Brother’s Reunion.  Mom, Dad, Owen, Ross, Hannah, and Aunt Janet all went to dinner at Sonny’s Prime in Arnold City, PA.  Pop-Pop opted to stay and help his brothers drink massive amounts of beer!  The festivities concluded on Sunday.  A good time was had by all.

As we write this, Mom and Dad are on a three-day trip with some friends to Busch Gardens and other places of interest in the Williamsburg, VA area.

Our blackberry patch is producing a bumper crop this year.

That’s it for this month, enjoy the pictures.

May 2021

Happy Birthday to Lucy, Rosemary, Fred, Barb, Meredith, and Jason

This Month’s News…

Mom became a member of the DAR this month.  The Local DAR Chapter formally accepted Mom’s application on May 5, 2021.

On Mother’s Day, we spent some quality time at Mom’s favorite local brew pub.  Much craft beer was consumed and a good time was had by all.

May 8th was Happy “Gotcha Day” to Winnie!  Two years ago we had recently lost Miss Piggy and Baby to old age and were happy to find a cute little dog named Shortcake on PetFinder.  We drove to Maryland, adopted her and changed her name to Winnie.  Part Pekingese, Boston Terrier and a little mix of lots of other things with an under-bite to beat all under-bites. Fierce rabbit hunter, sneaky runner, and queen of our yard. We ❤️ our Winnie.

The bird feeders in our yard initially attracted an unusually high number of Finches this year.  We refilled the feeders with a different mix and the finches disappeared.  Guess we lost our “Finch Five Star Rating!”

Owen finished up his junior year at CNU this month.  Shortly thereafter he and some friends were off to Hawaii for a week.

The Brood X Cicadas are back.  When they were last here in 2004, Pop-Pop and Granny’s property in Vienna, VA had a much larger infestation than we are experiencing.  We have not seen many on our property but we can hear them as they have invaded surrounding areas of Old Waterford Knoll (OWK).

Pop-Pop found this old picture from back in the days when he did network engineering stuff.  When we asked him about it he said RTM* and then come back and ask again.

May is National Barbecue and Hamburger Month.  In additon to the more familar Mother’s Day and Memorial Day, there are a number of other “Holidays” during the month of May.

That’s all the news that’s fit to print for this month.  Don’t forget to buy a Poppy for Memorial Day!
