January
Happy birthday to Granny and Uncle Bud…and to you too Elvis, wherever you are! We’re hoping we will see some snow this month. So far, its been a really mild Winter around here. It seems more like Spring than the middle of Winter!
this month marked our ninth consecutive year online!
February
Owen celebrates his Seventh Birthday ths month. And in February’s other big event, Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this year so it looks like we might have an eary Spring this year.
March
Lots of birthdays this month…Happy Birthday to All!
p>Ross and Pop-Pop celebrated their birthdays on the same day…March 12th. Ross is 10 years old; Pop-Pop is somewhat older than that! And cousin Gina’s birthday is in March too.
Pop-Pop and Granny’s dogs also celebrated their birthdays this month. Gunston is six and Piggy is five.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to All!!
April
The first of April is the day we remember what we are the other 364 days of the year. Let us be thankful for the fools. But for them the rest of us could not succeed. — Mark Twain
It’s April but it seems the cold weather will just not go away. But the rainy weather has showed up on schedule.
On April 6th, we went with Mom and Granny to the Greatest Show on Earth at the Patriot Center. There were lots of elephants, clowns and all those other things you see when you go to the circus. A good time was had by all.
The grandparents all came to our house for Easter Dinner. And they brought the dogs too. Captain, Gunny and Piggy had a good time playing together in the backyard. A pair of mallard ducks showed up at the front door and wouldn’t leave. We had to get Gunny to chase them away.
May
We’re both anxious for this year’s school term to come to an end and start our summer vacation. Dad opened our pool a few days ago, but the weather has been too cool to use it.
Happy Mother’s Day to Mom, Granny and Nana!
June
The really big event for this month is that our summer vacation from school started on the 13th. Just like last year, Mom is really happy that we will be home with her all day, every day until September!
Lots of stuff happening this month. Dad opened the pool, Gunston and Piggy came to stay with us while Granny and Pop-Pop were in Pennsylvania for a few days, and on Father’s Day we all went to Ball’s Bluff Regional Park. It’s really an interesting place. There was a battle at Ball’s Bluff during the early days of the Civil War. There is a small National Cemetery there too.
We’re also going on vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC in a few days for a whole week.
Happy Father’s Day to Dad, Pop-Pop and Papa!
July
Happy Birthday to Dad! And to the USA too!
August
We’re enjoying the last few week of our Summer vacation and getting ready for school, which starts at the end of the month. I will be in fifth grade this year and Owen will be in second grade.
September
It’s “Back to School” month. I’m in fifth grade this year and Owen is in second grade. It’s also “Close the Pool” month.
Granny, Pop-Pop, Gunston and Piggy were here on Labor Day for our last big pool party. And, before that we went on a field trip to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, MD.
October
Happy Birthday Mom!
Get the candy ready! Halloween is coming and we can’t wait to go Trick or Treating.
Fillet of a fenny snake, in the cauldron boil and bake: eye of newt and toe of frog, wool of bat and tongue of dog, adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting, lizard’s leg and howler’s wing, for a charm of pow’rful trouble, like a hell-broth boil and bubble. — Second Witch, “Macbeth,” IV:1
November
November has been a busy month. The first week of of the month, we took a short trip to Colonial Williamsburg, VA and historic Jamestown, VA. Jamestown was settled in 1607 and the State of Virginia is celebrating its 300 year anniversary this year. And we got our annual school pictures.
And a few weeks later, it was time for turkey, pumpkin pie and all that other stuff that goes with Thanksgiving. This year, we celebrated Thanksgiving at home with Mom, Dad, the Grandparents, and the dogs (Gunny, Piggy and Captain).
And on Sunday, November 25th, we went on a field trip to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.
And last, but certainly not least, November 6th was Mom and Dad’s 14th Wedding Anniversary!
December
It’s that time again! We are impatiently waiting for the Jolly Old Elf to jump down our chimney with a load of new toys for us. We need to make sure Dad doesn’t have any burning Yule Logs in the fireplace before we all go to bed on Christmas Eve. And remember to put out the milk and cookies!
See you next month...
Ross & Owen
