Happy Birthday to Owen
The Tuscarora High School Swim Team participated in the Virginia High School League (VHSL) 5A Northern Regional Swim Meet on the fourth of February. The meet was held at the Christianburg Aquatic Center in Christianburg, Virgina, which is about a four hour ride from here in Leesburg. Why the North Regionals were held in the far Southwest corner of the commonwealth remains a mystery. But all turned out well in the end since the Varsity Relay Team, which includes Owen, had times that were good enough to be invited to the VHSL 5A Swim and Dive Championships at George Mason University’s Jim McKay Natatorium, which is 30 miles or so from Leesburg.
At the State Championships on February 19th, the THS Swim Team finished in 11th place overall. The Relay Team finished in 7th place in the 400 and 11th place in the 200.

Ross was on a team of WVU engineering students who were given the task of building a structure out of one sheet of paper and then determining the maximum load it would support. To find out what the load capacity was, take a look at this Video.
Looks like Ross is taking a literal interpretation of this “Mountaineer” stuff. He went hiking in Cooper’s Rock State Forest this month!
See you next month...
