Happy Birthday to Mom’s Cousin Brian

Lot’s of activity this month.  The new school year started this month.  This year Ross is a senior and Owen is a freshman.  Ross is busy filling out college applications, working at Jimmy John’s, and running Cross Country.  Owen is still busy training to become a world-class video gamer.  He does, however, take an occasional break from gaming to participate in Cross Country Team activities and search for junk food.

The pool is getting some well-needed maintenance this month: new slate, new tile and a new coat of plaster.  And, the garage just got new doors. They are made out of aluminum rather than the press-board and wood of the old doors.  They are a slightly different shade of grey than the existing house trim, so a new coat of paint for the trim is probably not too far off in the future.

See you next month...

Happy Birthday to Uncle Barry

As usual, this month started with the annual Family Reunion in the hills of Southwestern Pennsylvania.  We also continued Ross’s college tour by stopping at WVU on the way to the reunion and and checking out Pitt once we got to Pennsylvania.  And Uncle Brian took us on a tour of CALU too.
We’re both on the Tuscarora High School Cross Country Team this year.  Our first meet was the Chancellor Invitational on August 30th in Fredericksbug, VA.  You can view lots of pictures from this meet on the Tuscarora Facebook page.

July 2014

Happy Birthday to Dad and the USA…

Dad took us fishing with guides from Mossy Creek Fly Fishing. It was our first try at fly fishing.  We actually caught a couple of nice looking trout.

We spent a week at the Outer Banks on our summer vacation.  On our way to OBX, we stopped in Richmond, VA and did a tour of the Museum of the Confederacy and spent a night in historic Williamsburg, VA.  On our way home we stopped in Williamsburg, VA again and spent the day at Busch Gardens.  Pop-Pop says that back in the day the best thing Busch Gardens had to offer was the free beer.  He used to stop there on the way to and from Virginia Beach for a glass of beer.  They stopped pouring free beer in 2009, so Pop-Pop says there’s really no good reason to go there anymore.

Pop-Pop and Granny did the dog/house sitting while we were gone.  They did not go to the Jamboree in the Hills this year.  After spending the third weekend of July at the Jamboree on 28 out of the last 29 years, they have retired and left it to their friends Ron and Pat to carry on the tradition.

We got some sad news this month.  Pop-Pop’s Uncle Don passed away on July 5th.  He was the last surviving sibling of Pop-Pop’s mother.  Our hearts go out to Pop-Pop’s Aunt Dottie, Cousin Doug and his family.
