Happy Birthday to Brian J., Brian M. and Dawg Pound Dave

Another summer’s in the books, the leaves are beginning to fall and we are once again small cogs in the inner workings of the Loudoun County School District.

We welcomed a new member into our extended family this month.  Pop-Pop’s niece Bethany and her husband Dave had their first child this month.  His name is Ethan John.  Pop-Pop’s genealogy stuff says he is our “2 x, or Second, Cousin” since we share the same great-grandparents on Mom’s side.

Other happenings this month:

  • Baby Julia, who is also our second cousin, took her first steps
  • We went to the Airshow at Leesburg Executive Airport
  • And last, but certainly not least, the Pittsburgh Pirates are going to the MLB Playoffs for the first time in 20 years and the Rubber Duck made its first appearance here in the United States at The Point.

August 2013

Nothing much new here this month.  Ross made the Tuscarora High Cross Country Team.  Owen continued to hone his gaming skills.

School starts after labor Day this year.  Ross will be a junior (eleventh grade) at Tuscarora High School and Owen will be in his third year (eighth grade) at Smart’s Mill Middle School.

July 2013

Happy Birthday to Dad and the USA…

We spent the Fourth of July week with friends at Deep Creek Lake.  Quite a difference in climate and scenery from our tour of the Southwestern Desert last month.

Pop-Pop and Granny went to the Jamboree in the Hills again this year.  This was their 28th out of the last 29 years at the Jamboree.  For their friends Ron and Pat this was the 35th year they’ve been there.  Pop-Pop says this is absolutely, positively the last time for him and Granny.
