This Month’s News…

It’s Mom’s favorite time of year. How does one know you ask? Well, because this year’s verson of the Autumnal Tree has been sighted!

Mom went on a White House Tour earlier this month. They also spent some time at the Trump International Hotel.

Mom and Dad made a day trip to Morgantown, WV to visit Ross during WVU’s Fall Family Weekend. They also took a side trip to Cooper’s Rock.

Owen’s continued his college tour this month. He did a tour of James Madison University. If he submits an application to JMU, he will be considered a “legacy applicant” since JMU is both Mom and Dad’s Alma mater.

Happy Birthday to Uncles Barry in Ohio & Uncle Bud in Florida

This Months News…

On the first week of this month we made our annual trek to the hills of Southwestern PA to attend the annual “First Saturday in August Family Reunion”. We left on Thursday for Morgantown, WV to help Ross get his apartment ready for occupancy. Unfortunately, this turned out to be more problematic and time-consuming than planned. However, Pop-Pop and Dad did get to spend a few hours at Gene’s Beer Garden with Pop-Pop’s friend Pat. On Friday afternoon we headed to Uncle Brian’s house in PA for the “Brothers Reunion.” On Saturday, we went to the Family Reunion.

On the way home we stopped again in Morgantown to see if any progress had been made on resolving the apartment issues. It was still a “Work-in-Progress” when we departed. However, the majority of the issues were resolved within the next week or so. Ross stayed on in Morgantown to get ready for the start of his third year at WVU.

The dogs spent some quality time with one of Mom’s friends while we were away. She said a good time was had by all.

The maximum coverage here during the Solar Eclipse on the 21st of the month was about 81%.

This Month’s News…

We spent our summer vacation this year on the OBX in Duck, NC. A good time was had by all.

One day we pulled a very old, very heavy plank from the surf. It appeared to be shipwreck remains, possibly burned at one time as it was sooty to the touch. Based on the design of the nails in the plank, we think it may be from a ship constructed in the late 18th or early 19th century. We told the town about our find in case they want to do some further research on it.

Mom and Dad went on a berry-picking expedition to Crooked Run Orchard. They returned with lots of blackberries, some of which Dad immediately turned into one of his famous “Fagerli Pies.”

Our backyard garden started producing this month…tomatoes, peppers, beans and last, but not least, zucchini. Mom’s resulting Zucchini Bread seemed to disappear as fast as she could make it.
