We’re having some record heat this summer. But that isn’t stopping us from having a good time. Aunt Rosemary and Uncle Brian came for a visit, we spent a long weekend with friends in Deep Creek, MD, and went on a week’s vacation to Gatlinburg, TN.
The pool is open and school is out for the Summer. Last year at this time it was cooler than usual and we were getting a lot of rain. This year it has been has been hot and dry. There have been a lots of days in the 90s already and we had our first (and hopefully last) 100 degree day on June 24th.
This has been a busy month for us. We went on two field trips during our Spring Break. The first trip was to Washington, DC to see the Cherry Blossoms. While in DC, we also went to the FDR Memorial and the Newseum. Granny really liked the Newseum as they were featuring old news stories about Elvis Presley. The second trip was to the Mother Seton Shrine in Emmitsburg, MD.
Granny, Pop-Pop, Aunt Janet, and the dogs were at our house for a visit on Mother’s Day. A good time was had by all. We went to Owen’s Piano Recital and then to dinner at the Beautiful South Restaurant in Hamilton, VA.
A week or so later, Ross had his Guitar Recital. Maybe he will be a famous guitar player like Django Reinhardt some day.
For Boy Scouts, Ross had to build a cardboard boat using only cardboard, two furring strips (wood), duct tape and two garbage bags. He did well and was in the lead until he got stuck a little bit in the mud. He did come in second and his boat made it through the race without sinking.
Our dog Captain had his day in court this month. Unfortunately, he was found guilty as charged and will soon be on the official “Dangerous Dog” list here in Loudon County, Virginia. All this for nipping the ankle of a jogger.
