May

Happy Mother’s Day to Mom, Granny and Nana…and especially to GG!

We have some sad news this month. Our GG passed away on 29 April 2004 at the age of 86. Not many kids get the opportunity to grow up with fond remembrances of the time spent with their Great-Grandmother. We love and miss you GG and know that your are now at peace and watching over us at all times.

How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!  I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see.  ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved; how precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come; ’tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me, his word my hope secures; he will my shield and portion be, as long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, and mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, a life of joy and peace.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we first begun.

June

Happy Father’s Day to Dad!

We’ve been busy lately. We went to the Udvar-Hazy Center, which is part of the National Air and Space Museum and saw lots of neat airplanes and a space craft…and we rode on some airplane and space craft simulators…that was lots of fun.

And, we have been invaded by Brood X 17-Year Cicadas. We have some at our house, but there are lots and lots more of them at Pop-Pop and Granny’s house. Just think, 17 years from now when they appear again, We will be all grown up!

July

Happy Birthday to Dad and the USA!

The Fourth of July fireworks were great this year!

August

A Busy Summer

Hi there. We have been really busy this summer. The third week of July we all went to Deep Creek Lake, MD for a week’s vacation. Then during the first weekend of August, we all went to Charleroi, PA for the annual Family Reunion. And on our way back home from the reunion, we stopped for a tour of the Fort Necessity National Battlefield in the Laurel Mountains of Southwestern PA. We learned all about the French and Indian War and about George Washington’s early military career there.

Ross won the first place award for his school project about the astronauts. His project also won second place in the district competition!

Happy Birthday to Dad, Buster and the USA!

Ross can now ride his bicycle without the training wheels. Owen still prefers tricycles!

Reunion Time!

The family reunion is always on the first Saturday in August, which was the second day in August this year. As usual, there was lots of food. And best of all, there was lots of stuff for kids to do.

Ross lost his first baby tooth at the reunion and the Tooth Fairy left him four shiny quarters that night.

We also went to a picnic at Aunt Janet and Uncle Tom’s house with our cousins Henri and Cody. We went swimming in their pool and saw lots of fish in their ponds.

We had lots of fun visiting GG, Uncle Brian, Aunt Rosemary, Gina, Brian Michael, and Aunt Rosemary’s bother Hammy, who was home on leave from the US Air Force.

Fillet of a fenny snake, in the cauldron boil and bake: eye of newt and toe of frog, wool of bat and tongue of dog, adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting, lizard’s leg and howler’s wing, for a charm of pow’rful trouble, like a hell-broth boil and bubble. — Second Witch, “Macbeth,” IV:1
