April 2017

Happy Birthday to Bethany and Sarah Jane

The first of April is the day we remember what we are the other 364 days of the year. Let us be thankful for the fools. But for them the rest of us could not succeed. — Mark Twain

Ross couldn’t make it home for Easter and the annual “Hamfest.”  Mom and Dad made a quick post-holiday trip to Morgantown and took him out to dinner.  They also made a side-trip to nearby Pennsylvania to visit with Mom’s Aunt Janet.

Owen is back working his lifeguard job on a part-time basis.  He’ll be getting more hours once the outdoor pool opens and school is out for the summer.

March 2017

Happy Birthday to Ross, Pop-Pop, Gina, Jill in Florida, Ryan in China, and Pop-Pop’s friend Pat in Morgantown!

Ross spent most of his Spring Break having fun in the sun and whatever in Panama City, FL.  He did, however, make it back home in time for the big birthday celebration.

Pop-Pop gave himself a recumbent exercise bike as a birthday present.  His rationale for this acquisition was that his knees can’t take the pounding on the treadmill anymore.  We think he was bored and wanted a shiny new toy to play with.

We had the biggest “snow storm” of the winter this month.  We got about five inches of snow.  This resulted in the schools closing for two days.  Owen took advantage of this break to hone his gaming skills.

February 2017

Happy Birthday to Owen

On Groundhog Day, Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter this year but it looks like he got it wrong!  Right now (February 24th) the outside temperature is 77°F.

Mom and Dad bought each other the exact same Valentine’s Day Cards.  Wonder what the odds of that happening are?

Owen went to the VHSL 5A Swim and Dive Championships again this year.  He was the only member of the THS Boy’s Swim Team to make it to the state championships this year.  He competed in the 50 Freestyle event.  He also won the THS “Most Valuable Swimmer Award” for the 2016-2017 season.

Owen got the results of his first try at the SAT this month.  Based on his scores, it appears that he actually does take time out from gaming to pay attention to other stuff.  Or maybe spending endless hours playing games on a PC just happens to have some educational value.
